Local Fish'n Chip shop chipping in for Chase
A local Whakatane Fish'n Chip shop is chipping in for Chace Topperwien.
After hope was restored for a Eastern Bay of Plenty family when it was announced that a drug trial for three year old Chase will finally begin.
Whakatane's Ryan and Keri Topperwien are in England with their critically ill son Chace, where they were originally told the toddler was too ill to start a trial which could save his life.
Three year old Chace was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukaemia, and was told at the beginning of this year, he has only months to live.
Grandfather, Rod Topperwien told 1xx Radio he has been anxiously watching the three-year-old's ups and downs from home, and has just received the news he's after.
He says the trial drug has been given to Chace overnight, which he says is the best news they've had for a long time.
He says it gives them new hope, so far as Chace's future is concerned.
Whakatane's popular local Fish'n Chip Shop Gibbos will be donating all sales on Saturday to Chace.
Gibbos told Bop Live. We know the drug trial is costing a bomb so we want to do something to help the little man and his family out, and what better way to do it than what we do best.
All Saturdays sales, at Gibbos on Saturday will all be donated to help with funding the drug trial. Gibbos is urging everyone to go along and buy something for Chace.
Gibbos is located on Kings Street in Kope, opposite the Z service station.
