No end yet for Marmageddon
In March the manufacture of the Kiwi breakfast staple had to be suspended after earthquake damage to a cooling tower on site rendered the nearby Marmite building unsafe.
The announcement sparked a rush to the supermarket aisles and the nation's supply was depleted in a matter of weeks.
Sanitarium, along with former All Black coach Graeme Henry, have assured New Zealanders that it will be back, but a spokeswoman confirmed they were no closer to knowing when production could start up again.
"Nothing has really changed yet, we still have engineers working on the site to fix the cooling tower, and when they determine it's safe we'll be able to look at a specific date."
Sanitarium had said it hoped to begin production again in mid July, and the spokeswoman said they were still hoping to achieve that.
Bay of Plenty Marmite fans have gone onto twitter and Facebook to share their frustrations.
Marge Temohi, TePuke, said "Breakfast is no longer the same with out her taste of Marmite on toast in the morning"
BopLive spoke to supermarkets throughout the Bay of Plenty who have said they no longer have Marmite in stock but one supermarket in Opotiki said they have 15 jars of the black gold in stock.
