Molly Morpeth Canaday 3D Award announced on Friday
The winner of the 2012 Molly Morpeth Canaday 3D Award will be announced at the exhibition
opening this Friday night (21 September) in the Opus Gallery, Te Kōputu a te whanga a Toi.
“The exhibition will open at 6.00pm and at 11.00am on the following day, judge Martin Poppelwell
will present a floor-talk which is also open to any interested members of the public,” says Co-
ordinator Arts and Cultural Projects, Kay Boreham.
Thirty-eight sculptural artworks were submitted for judging, from which Mr Poppelwell chose 27
objects for the exhibition. Works from seven Eastern Bay artists are included in the selection.
Entries were received from many parts of the country, including Southland, Hawke’s Bay,
Northland and Auckland.
The Molly Morpeth Canaday 3D Award is a biennial event which encourages and recognises
three-dimensional applied art. The exhibition will run until 18 November.
