More rain for Eastern Bay of Plenty
A front is moving east across the North Island, bringing further heavy rain to Bay of Plenty, and a warning remains in force. A moist northerly flow ahead of this front is forecast to bring sustained heavy rain to Bay of Plenty east of Kawerau, especially about the ranges where a further 100mm of rain or more could accumulate till midnight Sunday. Near the coast, another 40 to 60mm of rain is likely. Some rain is expected to spill over into the Gisborne ranges, and a watch remains in place there.
People in these areas are urged to stay up to date with the latest forecasts and warnings. Rivers and streams are likely to rise quickly, and surface flooding and slips can occur.
In northwest Nelson, however, the rain has eased, and the warning for this area has been lifted.
