Girl falls from balcony
An 8 year- old girl is in Middlemore hospital today after she fell from a 4 meter balcony in Ohope yesterday afternoon.
The girl believed to be on a holiday camp in Ohope fell from the four meter balcony onto her face and received multiple serious facial and jaw injuries.
The girl was taken to Whakatane hospital but was later transported to Middlemore Hospital by Helicopter.
A spokesperson for the Hamilton based Waikato Westpac Rescue Helicopter said they were enroute to Themes when they were diverted to Whakatane to transport the young girl to Middlemore for more specialist trauma care.
The girl was accompanied by her father to Auckland.
