Large bush fire in Omokoroa (Update)
Bay of Plenty firefighters are battling a large bushfire in Omokoroa.
Appliances responded to the large bush fire just after 5pm in the Cooney Reserve in Omokoroa.
Reports earlier reported that the fire was travelling towards nearby properties but a fire communications spokesperson says this is not the case.
Police are also at the scene after reports the fire was deliberately lit.
Tauranga police were unable to comment further.
