Count down to Chiefs kick off

There is only one week to go until the current Investec Super Rugby champions, the Chiefs, kick-off their pre-season with a Saturday afternoon trial against the Highlanders in Taupo.
Taupo has embraced the opportunity to see some of the best talent in global rugby, live on their back doorstep with a large, enthusiastic crowd expected to attend the match that takes place on Saturday 2 February, 3pm at Owen Delany Park.
Chiefs Coach Dave Rennie said "Every player who is fit will get a run. It is an opportunity for guys to make an impression for selection come competition time."
"For us, this trial is about getting our structures right on the park and getting our set piece going right."
The Chiefs’ All Blacks will be on tour with the team, but as they only return on Monday they are not expected to play, however they will be on hand to see the fans.
Fans attending the game are encouraged to bring picnics into the park but no alcohol or commercially branded take-away food is allowed be taken into the ground for the match. Food and beverages services will be available on site.
On Thursday 31 January at 4pm, the Chiefs team will run an invitation only Coaching Clinic for local rugby players at Tongariro Domain in Tongariro Street, Taupo. The public are welcome to view the session and following the clinic the team will available for autographs.
Kick off for the Chiefs v Highlanders pre-season match is at 3.00pm at Owen Delany Park in Taupo and tickets are available from www.ticketdirect.co.nz, www.chiefs.co.nz or at the gate on match day. Ticket prices are $15 for adults on the embankment and $25 for a grandstand seat. Kids 14 and under are FREE on the embankment. Gates open at 2.00 pm.
