Car fire closes part of highway
Fire Brigade and police were called to State highway 30 near the Hub Shopping Center just before 10am.
A fire communications spokesperson said when appliances from Whakatane arrived at the fire the car was well involved with fire and part of the highway was closed for safety reasons.
The occupants of the vehicle were not injured and the cause of the fire is not yet known.
State Highway 30 is now open.
