Today at Te Matatini, 14 teams from all rohe will take to the stage including previous finalists, Auckland's Te Waka Huia and Gisbourne's Whāngārā mai Tawhiti.
Yesterday crowds witnessed the challenge being set by 2011 finalists Te Whanau-a-Apanui whose performance could only be described as 'Amazing' along with Waihīrere and Ōpōtiki Mai Tawhiti who were among the crowd favorites.
Prime minister John Key was also among the festivities yesterday however his visit never took the attention away from the stage with some spectators not even knowing the prime minster had been and gone.
Organisers say they are looking forward to the next two days with everything going to plan.
'Two more days to go and we are looking good, everything is going as planed and we are happy how it is all going. Not to mention the awesome haka talent on stage.' Festival director Monty Morrison says.
The festival will run through until Sunday when the worlds Kapa Haka champion team will be announced.
