Arrest made in Jesse Ryder assault case

Police have arrested a 20 year old male in relation to the assault on the former Black Cap's player Jesse
Ryder.

Ryder remains in a critical condition in Christchurch Hospital in a induced coma.

Police say they have interviewed a 20 year old man and charged him with assault, Police are also looking for another person involved in the attack.

He will appear in the Christchurch District Court on Thursday on April 4.

It is understood that Ryder has a fractured skull and serious internal injuries, people nearby came to Ryder's rescue and wrestled off the attackers, an Ambulance was called to the scene at about 12.30am and transported Ryder to Christchurch Hospital's emergency department in a critical condition.
