Boy rescued from mudflats

Greerton Fire Brigade were called to assist police rescue a boy from mudflats in Tauranga this afternoon.

Police and the fire service were called to the mudflats out from Fraser Cove and Turret Road just before 5pm.

A local resident told the BOP Live that the school student looked to be walking from Fraser Cove towards Turret Road when he got stuck.

Fire fighters waded out to rescue the boy and assisted him back to shore on the Haukore Street side in Hairini.

The boy was uninjured.
