New gym opens doors in Hamilton

New Zealand’s largest and most awarded gym chain is giving city workers the chance to unleash their potential at a brand new $10 million exercise facility in the heart of Hamilton.
The new Les Mills club opens today at the fully-renovated and refurbished 747 Victoria Street site. Formerly a car dealership, the transformed space will provide an exercise experience like no other, including a 190 square metre outdoor training area where members can enjoy an open-air workout.
Parents will find working-out a breeze with the new LM JNR, a brand new type of kids club specifically designed to get kids moving while mum or dad do their own workouts. A purpose-built area at the new club will feature interactive resources, such as climbing walls, a custom-built jungle-gym, ball pit and even movement-based X-Box games.
Also new to Les Mills Hamilton is the international Les Mills GRIT series, a scientifically designed 30-minute workout, calculated to burn high amounts of energy in a short space of time. Proven to get results faster, by researchers at Penn State University, these short, sharp lunchtime workouts are ideal for Hamilton’s city workers.
Les Mills Hamilton Club Manager, Sheldon Macdonald, says, "We love being in the heart of Hamilton and are excited to offer a gym that’s even more convenient to people. We think this is the best Les Mills club yet, and can’t wait to welcome our members to the new space.
"We’re also really proud to be incorporating many of our green policies into the building, with energy-saving initiatives such as solar panels for hot water heating, eco-showerheads and energy efficient LED lighting. It’s simply the right thing to do and members can now feel even better about coming to the gym."
Fitness equipment will also receive an upgrade, with plenty of "exer-tainment" options available at the new club. Members will be able to connect their smartphones to new LifeFitness cardio machines, allowing access to personal music, books and apps. Users can also access social networks to interact with friends and personal trainers while working out with My Community. Virtual Lifescape courses allow users to run or cycle through Auckland, Coromandel, Germany, California or Italy, with speed and incline adjusting to the terrain.
The new club now boasts free on-site carparking and will be open 24 hours a day from Monday to Thursday, operating right through from 5:30am Monday to 8.30pm Fridays, and then opening 7am - 7pm Saturdays and Sundays.
