Police appeal for info after robbery
He was armed with a large piece of timber which he used as a weapon to strike the store worker while demanding cash and cigarettes. He then left the store empty-handed.
The man ran north on Cameron Road, and then possibly east along 11th Avenue.
Police would like to speak to anyone who recognises the man, or who may have seen him in and around the area of Cameron Road and 11th Avenue.
It is likely that he would have been hanging around the area for a period of time prior to the incident taking place.
The male shop worker was briefly hospitalised with bruising.
Police also appeal to any store owners or workers around Tauranga who have seen a man matching this description to contact Detective Sergeant Iain Chapman at the Tauranga Police on 07 577 4374 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
