Lakes News:

A variety at music school concert

The annual Bay of Plenty Music School brings together amateur musicians and choristers from throughout the Bay of Plenty and beyond, to a workshop under the direction of New Zealand leading professional conductors.

This year’s conductors are Peter Thomas, Music Director of the Auckland Symphony orchestra, who will direct the strings ensemble, and the orchestra, Ryan Youens, a freelance composer, arranger and conductor, who will direct the concert band, and David Squires, Music Director of the New Zealand Youth Choir who will direct the School’s choir.

Conductor Ryan Youens says the end of term concert is full of variety.

"The concert will include items from each of the groups together with a grand finale involving the combined orchestra and choir."

The concert will be held at the Keswick Camp, in Holdens Bay, Rotorua on Sunday 28 April.
