Angry teachers march + Photos

Hundreds of teachers marched through central Tauranga today protesting about the impact that education policies are having on children and there learning.

In a handout given to the public during the march it stated, Competition between schools and teachers through league tables are leading to the breakdown of team work and collaboration that is the cornerstone of the world recognised system.

Charter schools and untrained teachers and the botched Novopay system show a complete refusal to listen, respect or even properly pay the people at the heart of New Zealand schools.

Primary teachers, principals, and support staff and early childhood teachers marched today because of the concern they show about the impact of the Government's education policies are having on children and there learning.

Teachers throughout the Bay of Plenty also took to the streets in Opotiki, Whakatane and Rotorua today.
