BMW sales up

Sales figures released by the Motor Industry Association show that BMW has extended its lead in the premium segment year to date.
The 182 registrations achieved by BMW was the brand’s biggest March result on record and the fifth biggest month in the history of BMW in New Zealand.
"BMW achieved solid results across the entire product portfolio which is testament to having the newest, most attractive and dynamically superior new model range amongst all premium competitors," said the Managing Director of BMW New Zealand Group, Nina Englert.
"It is evidence customers appreciate the driving experience provided by a new BMW as well as the technology and infotainment systems in our new models, plus the suite of EfficientDynamic fuel saving technology which is part of every new BMW sold in New Zealand."
BMW EfficientDynamics technology encompasses a variety of different features such as auto stop/ start and an impressive eight-speed automatic transmission which provide enhanced fuel efficiency, without compromising power or performance.
The introduction of the ECO-PRO mode as part of the Driving Experience Control, standard on all new BMW Sedan and Touring variants, creates further opportunity for enhanced fuel savings.
"More and more New Zealanders are coming to discover a new BMW is without comparison when it comes to driveaway pricing, enhanced specification, service inclusive plans, outright performance and all-round driving dynamics," said Ms Englert.
"As such, I’d like to thank all BMW customers for contributing to our record start in 2013."
MINI is also enjoying a solid start to the year, recording another month of 30 plus registrations.
"The upcoming launch of the all-new MINI Paceman will further invigorate the ever expanding MINI family," said Ms Englert.
"Reports following the MINI Paceman launch laud its driving dynamics and striking yet unique MINI look, something local motorists will be able to see for themselves when the new model arrives in country next month."
On the global stage, the BMW Group sold more vehicles in March than in any other month in its history. The company sold a total of 191,269 BMW, MINI and Rolls-Royce vehicles in the past month, exceeding the previous all-time high in March last year (185,741 units/+3.0%).
The company also achieved a new high for the first three months: Retail volumes for the year to the end of March increased by 5.3% to 448,200 units (prev. yr. 425,543 units).
