2 killed and hundred injured in Boston bomb blasts




Hundreds of people have been injured and 2 people have been killed after two explosions shook the streets of Boston during the Boston Marathon.

The explosions occurred at 2.50pm ET with many of the runners already finishing the race hours earlier many runners will still on the course with spectators watching.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade said there were at least 45 New Zealander's registered to run the Boston Marathon but there are no reports of them being injured.

President Barack Obama stated in a press conference that, "We still do not know who did this or why, And people shouldn't jump to conclusions before we have all the facts" He referred to "any responsible individuals, any responsible groups"

White House Officials are calling the bomb blasts an act of terror though this is still unsure of at this stage.

A eight year old boy is believed to be one of the people killed in one of the blasts.

There are reports of another two other unexploded devices were found near the scene raised suspicions of a terrorist attack.

Nearly 25,000 people competed in the Boston Marathon 26.2-mile race and attracted thousands of spectators.
