'One Hundred' artworks at Taupo Museum

One hundred local creative people from brave first-timers to experienced artists have taken on the challenge of producing an original artwork based on the theme "Our People, Our Community" for Taupo Museum’s biannual community exhibition, One Hundred.
All one hundred artworks will be displayed at the Taupo Museum from 13 April to 19 May and will be on sale for $100 each. The artists have the option of profiting themselves or donating the proceeds to the museum.
"One Hundred is always a popular exhibition that allows creative people of all levels to produce an artwork to a common theme and exhibit it alongside their peers," says Exhibitions Officer, Kerence Stephen. "The theme ‘Our People, Our Community’ has proven a challenge. It was chosen to get artists thinking about the people who contribute to our community rather than our scenery, and has encouraged them to step outside their comfort zone and think outside the square."
One Hundred will have an official opening on Friday 12 April from 5.30pm where artists, friends and whanau are invited to celebrate another wonderful community exhibition and purchase an original artwork for a very reasonable price.
Taupo Museum is open daily from 10:00am until 4:30pm.
