Police search for car after fleeing crash

Police are searching for a car that spun out of control and crashed on a quite Welcome Bay street this afternoon.

Police were called to Pelorus Street in Welcome Bay just before 5pm today.

A local resident told The BOP Live that they looked out of their kitchen window to see a black Nissan Skyline losing control before colliding with the kerb outside the front of a house with children playing outside.

"I had just walked inside and saw the driver trying to re-gain control...these two cars always are speeding around here" said the local.

Police had stopped a driver and occupants of another vehicle at the scene that live at the same address as the offending vehicle.

Skids marks leading from the roundabout 100 metres away suggested the vehicle had been drifting or skiding before the crash.

Police were unable to comment.
