Two back in court after teenagers death

A 30-year-old man and a 23-year-old woman will be back in court on today facing a raft of charges including kidnapping.

Two people charged after a string of events which included a woman's body being dumped outside a Matamata hospital, two alleged car thefts and an alleged abduction are set to reappear in court.

A 30-year-old man and a 23-year-old woman will appear in Tauranga District Court on today, charged with aggravated robbery, kidnap, injuring with intent, and stealing a car.

The pair were granted name suppression and remanded in custody when they appeared at Manukau District Court late on Wednesday afternoon.

Police have been piecing together a series of events between Tauranga, Matamata and south Auckland.
The body of Tauranga 18-year-old Jovaan Rahera Graham was found outside Pohlen Hospital in Matamata about 4am on Wednesday.

The interim results of a post mortem examination have established she died instantly when she was hit by a silver Toyota Prado on State Highway 29 in the Kaimai Ranges, between Tauranga and Matamata.
Police say the driver of that vehicle was assaulted and abducted after he stopped to see what had happened but later escaped.

They also found at the Kaimais scene a Nissan stationwagon that had been stolen from Tauranga.
The silver Prado was later found in Papakura, south Auckland, and the 30-year-old man and a 23-year-old woman were arrested in the same area.

Police say several people have come forward with sightings of both cars. But they still want to hear from two truck drivers travelling along SH29 about 3am on Wednesday who the abduction victim tried to flag down.
