Person dead after crash

One person is dead after a fatal car accident this morning between a logging truck and a car.



Emergency services are at the scene of the car accident at the intersection of Ruahihi Road and State Highway 29.

Police have diversions in place for traffic heading towards Tauranga from the Kaimais traffic is being diverted down Poripori Road and traffic heading towards the Kaimais from Tauranga are being diverted down Cambridge Road in Tauriko.

Emergency services were alerted to the accident at around 8.15am this morning, the patient of the vehicle was reportedly heavily trapped on arrival.

Reports are that the patient has now died.
