Desert Road now open

The Desert Road has now been re-opened but police are urging motorists to drive with care.

NZTA says that a large amount of snow fell overnight.

New Zealand Police are warning motorists with the School Holidays now here to take extreme caution while travelling on the Central North Island roads due to ice and snow.
