Fire destroys building

Fire appliances on scene transmitted a third alarm fire meaning fire crews from Taupo, Rotorua, Benneydale, Kinloch, and Putaruru were called to the scene.

Asbestos was reported in the buildings ceiling meaning fire crews had to approach the fire from Waipapa Road.

The building was reported to be a old depot  and the entire building had reportedly been burnt to the ground.

The fire did not endanger any nearby houses and fire crews used a defensive attack on the fire.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this stage.
