Fire service investigate Whangarei house fire
Police and Fire Service are investigating a house fire in William Jones Drive,
Otangerei, Whangarei.
Emergency services were called to the fire at about 1:20am. The house has
been seriously damaged, and the single occupant of the house remains
unaccounted for.
Fire service staff have as yet been unable to fully search
the house.
A nearby car was also set alight at the same time, and on their arrival
Police were initailly hindered by the actions of gang members attending a
party at a nearby address. An attempt was made to break into a Police car
attending the scene.
Whangrei CIB are investigating the cause of the fire.
