Burn off prompts 111 calls

Fire service  have received calls to 111 from concerned  motorists stressing a large bush fire off state highway 30 near Braemar.

A Kawerau fire service spokes person said they have been receiving calls through out the day about  the fire.  

"The fire is a permitted burn off to burn off old forestry vegetation to clear it, and re-plant new trees"

the fire is controlled and no houses or nearby forestry is at risk.
