One dead after Taupo crash

One person is dead after a head-on collision involving a car and truck near Taupo.

Police say one person from the car died while a second suffered serious injuries from the crash on the Taupo bypass at 3.50pm.

The truck driver walked away from the accident uninjured.It is not yet known how many people were in the car.Police say initial investigations revealed the car may have veered into the path of the north-bound truck.

Traffic diversions are in place at the Taupo bypass and drivers should expect delays.
