Horizon Energy announces sponsorship for Whakatāne Library

Creativity, knowledge and exploration are all things Horizon Energy Distribution wishes to
encourage through its sponsorship of the Library space at the newly-opened Whakatāne Library
and Exhibition Centre.

Horizon Energy yesterday announced a $50,000 commitment over the next 10 years for the
Centre, which was officially opened this morning with in civic ceremony led by Whakatāne
District Mayor, Tony Bonne.

Horizon Energy Chief Executive Ajay Anand says his company has a strong commitment to
making a positive difference in our community.

“I particularly want to see the young people of this community given the best opportunities to
get out there and excel for themselves and for our district.

“Horizon Energy supports the community through a number of programmes, awards and
scholarships particularly designed for our future generations. Our sponsorship of the Library
echoes this commitment and we hope it will further encourage our young people to grow their
knowledge and achieve great things,” Mr Anand says.

The Library space will offer a greatly enhanced experience, with more room, comfortable places
for reading and research and more interactive opportunities for young people, with the latter
expected to be in great demand over the school holiday period.

Library and Exhibition Centre project completion group Chairperson David Dowd says Horizon
Energy’s support will enable people, young and old to explore the wonders of literature,
technology and the human imagination.

“Horizon Energy’s sponsorship is a very generous gesture to the people of the Whakatāne
District and on behalf of the community, I sincerely thank the company for this significant
contribution,” he says.
