Ngāti Rangitihi Beyond 2012

Te Mana o Ngāti Rangitihi Trust is engaging with members of its iwi tofind out what their ideas and aspirations are for revitalisation of te reo meōna tikanga Māori within Ngāti Rangitihi.

The findings will then form the basis of an iwi wide strategy designed todeliver on these ideas and aspirations.

At a hui in Matatā last week more than 70 people participated indeveloping a blueprint for Ngāti Rangitihi that will act as a foundation forfuture development.

Te Mana o Ngāti Rangitihi Trust Chairman, Mr Graham Pryor, said “NgātiRangitihi wants to build on that positive momentum and the next phase isto engage with iwi members who live outside our tribal boundaries.”


“We must make sure that we build this strategy from the ground up with  participation from as many of our iwi as possible.”

“We are seeking input from all our iwi as we need to understand both  what has worked and what has not worked for them in order to plan more effectively.”


“This is a defining time for us because what we put in place now will playa major role in assisting our iwi to grow in a manner they define and isconsistent with what is a uniquely Ngāti Rangitihi context.”


“We know it’s not easy out there in these uncertain economic times butwe want our iwi members to play a constructive role in determining theircollective futures. Because it is only through the collective success ofthem and their whānau that Ngati Rāngitihi too will taste success.”


“We understand there are many methods of communication and we willbe utilising as many mediums as possible including face to face, socialmedia, website, email and post in seeking the views of our iwi.”
