Man hit by train in Tauranga
A man is dead after being hit by a freight train in Tauranga.
The man, believed to be in his 30s or 40s, was struck about 5.40am this morning in the suburb of Otumoetai, acting Senior Sergeant Cam Anderson told NZ Newswire.
The man was yet to be identified and his death would be referred to the coroner.
The train driver is traumatised and is being supported by Victim Support, Sen Sgt Anderson said.
