Car crash on SH2 (Update)

One person has been taken to Tauranga hospital with serious injuries after a vehicle crash on State Highway 2. 

The accident involving a single vehicle happened just before 5pm on SH2 near Aongatete. 

The sole male occupant was taken to Tauranga hospital with serious injuries. 

A St John Ambulance spokesperson said the male occupant of the vehicle possible suffered a health related episode causing him and his vehicle to go off the road. 

The man was transported to Tauranga hospital in a serious but stable condition. 

Police are investigating the crash.
