Barn fire near Taneatua
Eastern Bay of Plenty fire firefighters were kept busy this morning following a fire on a local farm property.
Taneatua, Whakatane volunteer fire brigade and a water tanker from Edgecumbe were called to help put the barn fire out on White Pine Bush road near Taneatua just after 5am this morning.
A spokes person for Taneatua volunteer fire brigade said when they arrived at the farm property the Hay barn was well involved with fire.
"We called in the water tanker from the Edgecumbe brigade including extra staff from Whakatane."
"We also had the assistance of a local farmers digger to help extinguish the blaze"
An investigation into how the fire started is underway.
