Fatal shooting near Tokoroa

One person is dead after a reported shooting near Kinleith just south of Tokoroa.

The incident happened around 3.15pm.

The rescue helicopter from Rotorua was called after reports that one person had received critical injuries, that person died a short time later.

Police from Tokoroa, Rotorua, and Taupo are at the scene which is now under police guard.

Details of what happened haven't been disclosed yet.

The situation is ongoing.
