Schoolgirl approached by man
Shortly after 4.00 pm on Thursday 18 April (Yesterday) a 12-year-old Intermediate schoolgirl was riding her pushbike along Tay Street, Mount Maunganui.
At this time she was approached by a man driving a small white motor vehicle.
Inappropriate comments were made by this man to the girl, in an attempt to entice her into his vehicle.
The 12-year-old girl, did not engage in any conversation with this man, and rode off.
The man is described as:
Male
Caucasian
Brown coloured 'scruffy' hair
Unshaven
He was not wearing a shirt and was of very white/pale complexion.
The vehicle is described as:
White coloured
Old and small
Dirty and in generally bad condition.
The vehicle was seen to drive off along Tay Street, toward Maunganui Road.
Police are seeking assistance from anyone who knows who this man is, or who may have seen this vehicle in the Tay Street/Oceanview Road area of Mount Maunganui around 4.00pm yesterday.
