Police net stolen property and drugs
Yesterday Gisborne Police executed a number of search warrants in and around Gisborne. The searchwarrants targeted drug offending and stolen property.
7 searches were executed which resulted in 8 people being arrested and charged with offences of Possession of Cannabis for Supply, Manufacturing Cannabis Oil, Cultivation of Cannabis and Receiving Stolen Property. A significant amount of cannabis and cash was seized.
A horse float that was stolen recently in Gisborne was recovered at one of the addresses where cannabis was seized. A 31 year old man was charged with the receiving of the stolen float and will appear in the Gisborne District Court next week. A second male is being sought by Police in relation to the theft.
Police on Tuesday 28 May arrested and charged a 14 year old youth offender with burglary in relation to the ram raid that occurred at a local liquor store on Sunday 26 May. He will be facing further charges to other burglaries and thefts from cars in Gisborne recently. He has been remanded into the custody of CYFS. A stolen vehicle used in the raid has been recovered and has suffered substantial damage.
The successes of the last few days have been due in no small part to information supplied by members of the Gisborne Community. The value of the partnership between the Police and the community has once again been highlighted.
