Taupo road maintenance contract awarded

Road maintenance and resealing for the next three years will be done by Higgins Contractors Limited after Taupo District Council awarded the contract at the 30 April Council meeting.
Councillors accepted the tender for road maintenance and resealing submitted by Higgins Contractors Limited for $7,524,786. The contractors will be responsible for the work until 2016. The current road maintenance and reseal contracts expire at the end of June 2013.
The work includes sealed and unsealed road repairs, reseals, vegetation control, maintenance of stormwater culverts, kerb and channels and the sweeping of streets. It also provides for emergency response for flooding, icing and road crashes.
