Update police search for gunman after shooting

A gunman is on the loose in the Auckland suburb of Orakei after a 32 year old male was shot in the side of the head at around 1pm.

Police were called to a Kupe Street address after members of the public saw a male running from the address bleeding from a head wound.

Witnesses stated two men ran into Tokomaru St, one armed with a gun ran in one direction, while the injured male ran in the opposite direction before collapsing on the ground.

Police said the incident was a domestic incident and the alleged offender is known to police.

Police were initially told the gunman was in a house but armed police searched the house and could not locate the gunman.

The area around Kupe Street and neighboring streets have been cordoned off.
