Update light plane crash in Matamata

Emergency services are on the scene of a light plane crash at Matamata Airfield.

Reports came in at around 1.30pm today for a light plane crash at the southern end of the runaway.

When emergency services arrived at the scene they found a light plane entangled in a fence at the southern end of the runaway.

All occupants of the aircraft were out and uninjured when emergency services arrived.

The scene has now been taped off and police are investigating.

The cause of the accident at this stage is unknown.
