Injured horse rider airlifted

At approximately 330pm yesterday afternoon the Rotorua Bay Trust Rescue Helicopter was called to assist an injured horse rider near the small town of Te Teko. 

 The 50 year old female was thrown from her horse during her ride through the forestry and suffered a broken leg.

 St. John Paramedics from Whakatane and Kawerau were on the scene and stabilised the injured woman until the Rescue Helicopter arrived at the location. She was then transported to Rotorua Hospital for further treatment.
